Poczta Polska will provide logistics support for the #SzkołaDlaWas campaign for Ukrainian students.
On March 30, 2020, a press conference was held at the Ministry of Education and Science building, attended by Przemysław Czarnek, Minister of Education and Science, Tomasz Zdzikot, President of Poczta Polska, and Michał Kanownik, President of the Digital Poland Association. During the event, details of the #SzkołaDlaWas (#SchoolForYou) campaign were presented, the implementation of which will be supported by the company from a logistical perspective.
" 150,000 Ukrainian refugee children are already in Polish schools. The overwhelming majority are enrolled in primary schools. Over 20,000 children are in Polish preschools, and the remainder are in secondary schools, " said Minister Przemysław Czarnek during a press conference.
The head of the Ministry of Education and Science pointed out that the vast majority of Ukrainian children are still outside the Polish education system. Some of them are using remote learning and connecting with their classes. These students – in accordance with applicable regulations – are exempt from compulsory school attendance.
To enable these students to learn remotely, the Ministry of Education and Science is implementing the #SchoolForYou initiative. "As part of this initiative, we have already collected several thousand pieces of used computer equipment," said the Minister of Education and Science, outlining the project's objectives. "This equipment will be distributed to all children who need it to connect with Ukrainian classes," he emphasized.
The digital industry, together with the Ministry of Education and Science, supports Ukrainian students
Over 2.3 million people have already crossed the Polish border due to the conflict in Ukraine, and this number continues to grow. A significant portion of the refugees are children requiring educational or care services. The Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science has emphasized the importance of ensuring students have the opportunity to continue participating in Ukraine's education system.
Digital sector companies, industry organizations, and non-governmental organizations are responding to this need by joining the #SzkołaDlaWas initiative. Members of the Digital Poland Association have already pledged to donate several thousand pieces of computer equipment (desktop computers, laptops, and tablets) to Ukrainian students.
Poczta Polska is a partner of the #SzkołaDlaWas campaign
The Polish Post Office, together with the corporate foundation "Pocztowy Dar," has joined the "School for You" campaign to handle the transportation of donated equipment. Thanks to this support, students will receive their equipment quickly.
" Poczta Polska has accepted the invitation to participate in the #SzkołaDlaWas project. As the largest infrastructure and transport company in Central and Eastern Europe, we are a natural partner for the Ministry, as we have the appropriate logistics potential and serve as a communication hub for the Ukrainian Post in international exchange, " emphasized Tomasz Zdzikot, President of Poczta Polska. " Cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science is one of the company's numerous commitments to helping Ukraine and its people. Since the beginning of the Russian aggression, the company has supported Ukrainians in many ways, including organizing transports of donations and providing accommodation in Poczta Polska hotels and guest rooms across the country. We have also exempted humanitarian aid shipments to Ukraine from postal fees and issued the 'We are with You' stamp," added the President.
How to get involved?
Organizations wishing to donate equipment free of charge (minimum 10 units) can contact szkoladlawas@cyfrowapolska.org . The donated equipment will be delivered to dedicated service centers where it will be inspected, secured, packaged, and prepared for school use. It will then be distributed to those in need who wish to continue their education in Poland within the Ukrainian education system.
As noted during the conference, donated equipment must be fully functional, free from any noticeable damage or defects, and no more than five years old. Tax benefits will apply to equipment donated by companies, including zero VAT and the ability to deduct the donation as a tax-deductible expense. Details of tax benefits are available at podatki.gov/ukraina .
Poczta Polska has been supporting Ukraine since the first day of Russian aggression
Poczta Polska has been assisting its attacked neighbor in numerous ways since the first day of the Russian attack. The company, in cooperation with clients, entities from the Capital Group, and the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation, sent over 200 pallets of essential items to Ukraine, worth over PLN 1.3 million. In mid-March, Poczta Polska donated seven armored armored vehicles to PrivatBank, the largest Ukrainian bank, for cash transport around Ukraine. The company also joined the government's program to assist its attacked neighbor. The national postal operator made available to the relevant state agencies, including its accommodation facilities in postal training and recreation centers (which have already housed nearly 200 refugees) and a staff hostel, vehicles for transporting Ukrainian citizens from the border to a location in Poland designated by crisis management teams, and for transports to the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves. The post office also declared its readiness to offer jobs to refugees, including many positions where knowledge of the Polish language is not required.
