Postmen saved the post office in Zakrzewo

IMG_7970_largeOn the night of June 13th to 14th, a fire broke out at the Zakrzewo Post Office near Radom. The damage was so extensive that it seemed impossible to continue operating in its current location. However, postal workers demonstrated once again their ability to overcome challenges. Thanks to the enormous dedication of their employees, the office was already serving customers on Tuesday, June 16th.

"Poczta Polska is not an ordinary company. It's a community that supports each other. Together we are stronger, as demonstrated by the fire at the Zakrzew Post Office and the response of employees from other units. The initial reports after the fire was extinguished were depressing; the facility looked set to be closed for at least two months. Thanks to the commitment of a group of employees, the Zakrzew Post Office returned to work on Tuesday. Of course, conditions at the office remain difficult, but the staff demonstrated enormous amounts of willpower. All postal workers who also supported the facility deserve our thanks, " says Tomasz Zdzikot, CEO of Poczta Polska.

The probable cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit. Five units of the State and Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene. Post Office employees also arrived and, together with firefighters, conducted a preliminary inspection. The operating room and computer equipment were primarily damaged. There was also a risk that the Post Office's data would be irretrievably lost, which would make reactivating the facility extremely difficult. However, thanks to the involvement of IT staff, the data was recovered. Two workstations were also set up in the replacement room.

The most important issue, however, was customer service – the timely delivery of exam papers for eighth-grade students and the timely payment of pensions and retirement benefits. The hard work and extraordinary dedication of many people resulted in the delivery of exam papers to primary schools, the payment of pensions, and the delivery of parcels as early as Tuesday morning, June 16th.

"The recent dramatic events in Zakrzewo have proven that postal workers are people for whom nothing is impossible, and the Post Office operates like a family. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all the employees involved in restoring the fire-damaged facility. It's truly a great achievement that work was reorganized in just three days. I'm proud to work with such dedicated and tireless people, " commented Grzegorz Kurdziel, Vice President of Poczta Polska.

All employees of the Zakrzew Post Office have been struggling to cope with the consequences of this unfortunate event, as have employees in the network, infrastructure, logistics, and IT regions. Conditions at the office remain difficult, but customers can continue to use postal, banking, and insurance services.
