The most beautiful Polish stamp in Europe

fdcPoczta Polska (Polish Post) won first prize in the prestigious EUROPA Stamp 2020 philatelic competition. This year's stamps focused on ancient postal routes. This is another distinction for Polish philatelic work in this competition. In 2018, our publishing house took second place in the online voting.

Poczta Polska's publishing house was recognized by the international group of experts, PostEurop. Three postal operators tied for second place at the lower levels of the podium: Postverk Føroya (Faroe Islands), Swiss Post (Switzerland), and SC Ukrposhta (Ukraine), with Deutsche Post DHL Group (Germany) closing the podium.

Winning the competition, in which first prize was decided by a jury composed of eight distinguished philatelic experts from various backgrounds, including artists, collectors, and bloggers, is an extremely valuable success for the entire Polish Post. This prestigious distinction in the European arena demonstrates the highest quality of Polish philatelic publications.

" The news of our first-place award brings us great joy and pride. The award confirms the highest skill of Polish artists and is a sign of appreciation from the global philatelic community for the Polish Post. I would like to add that the task was no easy one. The aim of the competition was to showcase ancient postal routes in such a small and demanding space as the stamp field. It's worth noting that our project also symbolically captures the essence of interpersonal communication that has existed for centuries. Therefore, distinguishing a Polish publisher among so many other issues from postal operators associated with PostEurop is a source of pride for us, especially now, during the pandemic, when our way of communicating is undergoing increasingly dynamic changes, and postal operators must change along with them, " said Tomasz Zdzikot, President of the Management Board of Poczta Polska.

As part of the cooperation between European postal administrations, special stamps in the EUROPA series have been issued since 1956. Issues with different themes – showcasing the common roots, culture, history, and shared goals of the peoples of Europe – always feature the official EUROPA logo – the trademark of the association of public postal administrations PostEurop.

Turkish Post PTT (Türkiye) triumphed in the online competition, followed by Haypost CJSC (Armenia – second place) and Azerpost (Azerbaijan – third place).
