Special postage stamp for the opening of Expo 2025 in Japan

To celebrate Expo 2025 in Osaka, Poczta Polska has prepared a special philatelic issue, an artistic contribution to promoting Poland as an innovative, open country, and full of creative energy. The issue was created in cooperation with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH).

The issue comprises a postage stamp, a collector's first day of circulation (FDC) envelope, and a commemorative date stamp. The stamp depicts the modern shape of the Polish Pavilion, inspired by waves spreading across the surface of water. Its dynamic form symbolizes the intellectual and cultural energy driving our country's development. All elements of the issue are connected by the motif of "waves of creativity" – an image of creative power that reflects Poland's potential.

The motto of Poland's presence at Expo 2025 – "Poland. Heritage that drives the future" – appears on both the stamp and the FDC envelope. It highlights the importance of our historical and cultural heritage as a source of contemporary innovation. A date stamp, inspired by a bird's-eye view of the pavilion, complements the design.

Expo 2025 – a global center for cooperation and innovation

The Expo is one of the most important economic and cultural events in the world. Since 1851, World Expos have provided a platform for showcasing achievements in science, technology, culture, and art. This year's Expo will take place from April 13 to October 13, 2025, on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay, Japan. Organizers anticipate over 28 million visitors, approximately 3.5 million of whom will be foreign tourists. The Expo will be divided into three main zones: the World of Pavilions, the World of Water, and the World of Greenery. The Expo will showcase cutting-edge technologies such as air taxis, hydrogen-powered ships, and a fully electronic payment system. It is the first World Expo to rely solely on cashless transactions.

Poland at Expo – heritage in a modern version

Poland's participation in Expo 2025 continues Poland's long-standing presence at World Expos, spanning over 150 years. It's a unique opportunity to showcase the achievements of the Polish economy, science, technology, and culture to an international audience. Accompanying events include Polish Day, a ceremonial celebration of the May 3rd Constitution Day, and two Polish-Japanese Economic Forums. These initiatives aim to strengthen economic and investment cooperation with partners from Asia and other regions of the world. It's worth noting that the Polish Pavilion was recognized by The New York Times and included on the list of the 25 most interesting places to see at Expo 2025. The program promoting the Polish economy focuses on six strategic sectors: agri-food (including AgriTech), medical and pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, green technologies (with particular emphasis on hydrogen solutions), gaming, and IT and FinTech. World Expos have always been a forum for international dialogue and the exchange of ideas. Expo 2025 continues this tradition, giving countries the opportunity to showcase their achievements and promote universal values.

By issuing a commemorative stamp, Poczta Polska not only commemorates Poland's participation in this prestigious event, but also strengthens the image of Poland as a modern and creative country that proudly cherishes its heritage and remains faithful to its traditions.
