Poczta Polska, using philatelic publications, reminds of important figures in the history of the Church. The latest value commemorates Saint Gianna Beretta Molla, an Italian doctor and a young mother who, to give her daughter's life, devoted her to her in a conscious sacrifice.
Gianna Beretta Molla was born on October 4, 1922 in a magnet, in Lombardy. She was a 10 child of zealous Christian parents who, as secular belonged to the Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi. Gianna proved not only as a pediatrician, but also a devoted wife and a wonderful mother. She based her whole life on love for God and others. In 1961, expecting the birth of the fourth child, she heard a terrible diagnosis - in her uterus a fibrin developed. To save her life, doctors would have to remove the uterus and life developing in it. 39-year-old Gianna firmly stated that she would deal with her own treatment after the birth of the child. As a doctor, she realized that only one life was possible to save and still chose the child's life. To the last days, she accompanied three young children and her husband with great serenity. Despite the efforts of doctors, she died a week after delivery. In the future, her daughter also became a doctor, like her Holy Mother.
