HOLIDAYS WITH THE POLISH POST: Literary encounters at Post offices. Starring a bestselling author.

The holidays are just around the corner, and the days are getting shorter. Gray November and December afternoons are the perfect time for cozy get-togethers in a warm home. Especially when you can talk about dreams, love, and the holiday magic that emanates from the books of our favorite author. Starting November 19th, Poczta Polska invites you to its branches for meetings with the popular novelist, journalist, and pianist Agnieszka Lis. This is another installment of the operator's reading promotion project.

As part of the Polish Post's Christmas offer, you can buy, among other things, more than a dozen books on holiday-related topics. Among them are works by Agnieszka Lis – the new "Salon Fulfilled Dreams" (Salon of Fulfilled Dreams) and earlier titles: "Magiczny czas" (Magic Time), "Kawiarniapełnadników" (Cafe Full of Dreams), and "Marzipanowa miłość" (Marzipan Love). All titles are available in standard editions and at reduced prices – the last three are 19.90 PLN each.

People who would like to meet Agnieszka Lis in person and get her books with dedications are invited to meetings at post offices:
November 19, 5 p.m., UP Elbląg 1, Plac Słowiański 1 apt. 3 (the meeting will last approx. 1.5 hours and will be led by Aleksandra Szymańska from Radio Eska Elbląg);
November 26, 5 p.m., UP Katowice 25, Plac Oddziałów Młodzieży Powstańczej 6 ;
November 28, 5 p.m., UP Warszawa 1, ul. Świętokrzyska 31/33 ;
December 5, 5 p.m., UP Warszawa 40, Rynek Starego Miasta 15 .

The series of meetings continues.
In August, Poczta Polska launched a series of meetings with authors of social fiction. At selected locations, readers have so far had the opportunity to meet Justyna Jelińska (crime writer) and Monika Wawrzyńska (funeral fiction).

"I think author meetings at post offices are a wonderful idea. Especially when many small bookstores are closing down, especially in small towns. The Polish Post Office may be the only place in the immediate area where you can buy books and, interestingly, meet their authors! I'm incredibly proud to have been a pioneer in this endeavor. I believe that soon, authors, painters, and photographers will have a long waiting list for such an opportunity, " said Monika Wawrzyńska.

The author meetings held so far are being treated as a pilot project, during which Poczta Polska (Polish Post) is seeking the best format and location to attract as many participants as possible. Ultimately, other cultural events will also be organized at post offices.

Portrait of a Polish Post reader.
At Polish Post offices, you can not only send a letter or collect a parcel, but also buy books and newspapers – in some regions, these are often the only places selling such products. Our reading enthusiasts come from all ages – they live in large cities, but also in small towns and villages. Most often, they seek advice and knowledge.

Analyses show that guidebooks, manuals, hobby books, and educational books are the best sellers everywhere. Customers are also eager to purchase popular titles that are on everyone's lips, such as "Peasant Women: The Story of Our Grandmothers" by Joanna Kuciel-Frydryszak, "Ziemianki: What the Ladies of the Manors Had in Common with the Peasant Women" by Marta Strzelecka, "The Tattooist of Auschwitz" by Heather Morris, and "The Other One" (a biography of Prince Harry).

The bestsellers of 2024 are: "Poland. Dream Journeys," "The Magical World of the Slavs," "Homemade Pickles," "The Kingdom of Soups," "Culinary Wiola," "Keto Baba," "Glucose Revolution," "Polish Medicinal and Healing Herbs," "Insulin Resistance," and "Macrame Step by Step." And in the last five years, the top sellers were: "I Write Without Errors," "I Count Without Errors," "Computer and Internet for Seniors," "Ecological Moon Guide," "Encyclopedia of Health," and "Pocket Phrasebook with Pronunciation."
