Territorial Defense Forces Day. Polish Post employs Territorial Defense Forces soldiers and enhances employee defense skills.
On September 27th, we celebrate Territorial Defense Forces Day. Poczta Polska has supported the ranks and ideas of this formation since its inception. The company has implemented a program encouraging employees to join the Territorial Defense Forces – "Shoulder to Shoulder with the Territorial Defense Forces." This year, it also organized internal shooting training and encourages participation in training conducted at the initiative of the Ministry of National Defense – "Train with the Army – Alone and in a Group." The company employs over 300 people who divide their time between work and serving their country.
In 2022, Poczta Polska launched a program aimed at promoting commitment to national defense and security – "Shoulder to Shoulder with the Territorial Defense Forces." Company employees who are also Territorial Defense Force soldiers can count on a number of benefits: two additional days off work with retained pay, the right to additional absences from work resulting from territorial military service, financing of a MultiSport sports card, life insurance on preferential terms, and the opportunity to participate in attractive training courses (shooting, first aid, cybersecurity). The defense training in which they participate is conducted, among others, by experts from the Territorial Defense Force Command.
Also in 2022, Poczta Polska and the Territorial Defense Force signed an agreement to strengthen the country's defense capabilities. One of its provisions was to organize training for the company's employees and prepare them to support and cooperate with the Territorial Defense Force.
"The number of postal workers joining the Territorial Defence Forces (WOT) is steadily growing. They include both women and men, representing various company units and professional groups. As a company with significant economic and defense significance, Poczta Polska supports and initiates activities aimed at increasing employee defense skills and awareness in this area," says Daniel Witowski, spokesperson for Poczta Polska.
As part of the implementation of the agreement with the Territorial Defence Forces (WOT), the company launched a voluntary, nationwide firearms training program for employees—"Welcome with Arms"—drawing on historical traditions. During the interwar period, the company conducted Postal Military Training, thanks to which employees bravely defended the Polish Post Office in Gdańsk in 1939. The current training provided basic knowledge and skills in firearms use. Theoretical and practical classes were conducted under the supervision of qualified instructors. Over 750 company employees participated.
For those who, for various reasons, were unable to participate in the "Welcome to Arms" training or wish to improve their skills in these areas, Poczta Polska invites you to participate in training conducted by experienced soldiers – the 4th edition of the "Train with the Army – Alone and in a Group" training program. This training program prepares you to support the Polish Armed Forces in peacetime and crisis, and to perform defensive operations in situations of national security threats. The training, during which participants practice basic shooting, hand-to-hand combat, survival, military tactics, terrain knowledge, and first aid, is conducted in numerous locations and on various dates. Regional HR units accept applications from Poczta Polska employees. The training programs are very popular, not only among Poczta Polska employees.
Poczta Polska, as the only postal operator with the status of an entrepreneur of particular economic and defense importance and a designated operator, performs tasks including cooperation with the Military Field Post. The company also participates in the mobilization of the Polish Armed Forces. As a key strategic institution of the state, Poczta Polska is subject to militarization in times of war or serious crisis.
For its work on behalf of the Territorial Defense Forces, Poczta Polska was honored with the "TDF-Friendly Employer" title in 2021. Winning this competition is a commitment for the company, not the culmination of activities already completed, but an inspiration to continue its efforts to cooperate with the Territorial Defense Forces.
