Szczebrzeszyn: Poczta Polska presented new stamps of the "Beauty of Poland" issue
On July 14th of this year, Poczta Polska (Polish Post) unveiled new stamps from the "Beauty of Poland" issue. This year's philatelic publication highlights the history of treasures in the Lublin region, including the synagogue in Szczebrzeszyn.
The ceremonial presentation of the coins at the Szczebrzeszyn Post Office was attended by Jan Kanthak, Secretary of State in the Ministry of State Assets, and Krzysztof Falkowski, President of Poczta Polska.
" The Szczebrzeszyn Synagogue is an extraordinary place. The building is not only a witness to history, but also a reflection of a spiritual connection to the past. It is a symbol of our heritage and the coexistence of different cultures in Poland. It is a great honor for me to be able to share this unique badge with the residents of Szczebrzeszyn, who contributed to the protection and conservation of the synagogue. The local community's involvement in this project is proof of how important it is to care for our heritage for future generations ," says Jan Kanthak, Secretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets.
The remaining five stamps in the "Beauty of Poland" issue feature the Collegiate Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Chełm, a panoramic view of the Zamość market square, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Hrubieszów, Polish horses from Roztocze, and the Church of the Holy Spirit in Kodeń. The six-stamp series was accompanied by three First Day Covers featuring landscape views of the Roztocze National Park.
"Through our "Beauty of Poland" stamps, we promote extraordinary corners of the country and highlight the uniqueness of the places they depict. Szczebrzeszyn is undoubtedly one of them. An important element of Poczta Polska's mission is the promotion of indigenous culture. Postage stamps are a unique tool for achieving this goal. I am convinced that our "Beauty of Poland" issue will inspire people to discover our country's heritage," emphasizes Krzysztof Falkowski, President of Poczta Polska.
The Szczebrzeszyn synagogue is one of the oldest buildings of its kind in Poland. This valuable monument is also an active place of Jewish worship. Currently, the Szczebrzeszyn synagogue serves as the seat of the Szczebrzeszyn Municipal-Community Cultural Center.
