The parcel rush continues. Poczta Polska's modern sorting facility is seeing a significant increase in shipments.

The end of the year is a busy time for the logistics industry. From Black Week, marked by attractive discounts on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, through St. Nicholas Day, and into Christmas, we ship approximately 50 percent more parcels than usual. To deliver such a large number of parcels, sorting facilities are increasing not only staff but also operating hours. Equipped with state-of-the-art machines with a throughput of up to 18,000 parcels per hour, the Poczta Polska sorting facility located in Ciemne near Warsaw is operating at full capacity, ensuring safe and on-time deliveries not only to Warsaw residents but also to large corporations.

Poczta Polska is one of the largest operators in the country. The company has a parcel collection network of approximately 20,000 points, including over 1,300 parcel machines, 7,500 branches, and several thousand partner locations, including Żabka, ABC, Lewiatan, Groszek, Arhelan, and Delikatesy Centrum stores. The operator's potential also lies in its network of nearly 30 sorting centers and a modern fleet of over 5,000 vehicles. This allows for the timely delivery of over 4 million parcels daily and service to over 15 million addresses across Poland.

The forwarding and distribution hub (WER) in Ciemne near Warsaw is one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Poland. WER Ciemne comprises a total of 28,000 m² of operations and warehousing, 33 docks, 60 courier gates, and 74 vehicle spaces. Each day, 250 employees handle 300 sorting directions and coordinate the simultaneous loading and unloading of nearly 80 vehicles. The sorting facility is equipped with a modern, nearly 50-meter-long scale conveyor for non-standard shipments, enabling sorting into 24 domestic destinations and 124 courier regions.

"We're ready for the parcel rush. Thanks in part to the investment in Ciemne, we can safely and on-timely deliver parcels within the Warsaw metropolitan area, as well as sort parcels nationwide. This complex was built literally from scratch in just a few months and is now one of our most modern facilities of its kind ," says Sławomir Żurawski, Vice President of Operations and Logistics at Poczta Polska.

Pocztex handles Poczta Polska's courier shipments. The service is tailored to both individual and e-commerce customers. Parcels handled by Poczta Polska can be delivered by courier, but customers can also collect them themselves at post offices, partner locations, and parcel machines located at selected post offices, shopping centers, transportation hubs, housing cooperatives, and housing communities, as well as at Biedronka stores.

To make it easier for customers to send, receive, and track their parcels, Poczta Polska has launched the completely free Pocztex Mobile app. It's available in both the App Store (iOS phones) and Google Play (Android phones).
