Transport of humanitarian aid from the Polish Post for Ukraine

1190-670The Polish Post (Poczt Polska) is expressing solidarity with Ukraine, which has been attacked by Russia, and is sending aid in kind, which will be received on the Ukrainian side by the Ukrainian Post Office (UKRPOSHTA). The first truckload of the most urgently needed items has just hit the road. The aid is valued at over 224,000 PLN, provided by the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation, companies from the Polish Post Group, and affiliated companies.

Since the beginning of the Russian aggression, Poczta Polska has supported Ukraine in numerous ways. Talks with Ukrainian postal workers are ongoing, often interrupted by air raid sirens urging them to take shelter and explosions. In agreement with the Ukrainian Post, Poczta Polska has assumed, among other roles, the role of the UKRPOSHTA liaison for international postal traffic.

Today, the Polish Post Office, by organizing a shipment of gifts for Ukrainian postal workers, wishes to help those who, despite the very difficult situation in the country, have remained in place and, to the extent possible, are carrying out their duties to care for Ukrainian citizens. A delivery of the most necessary items, including canned meats, powdered milk and baby formula, hygiene and disinfectant products, wipes, sleeping mats, sleeping bags, blankets, and canvas stretchers for carrying the injured, is already on its way. The value of the gifts sent exceeds PLN 224,000, of which over PLN 181,000 comes from the own funds of the "Pocztowy Dar" postal corporate foundation, contributions from Poczta Polska Group entities, and contributions from Poczta Polska employees. The remaining donations were provided by companies cooperating with Poczta Polska: Polfa Tarchomin SA, ekobieca, MAKEUP, Avanti Sp. z o.o., Publimar Meat and Meat Distribution Center, and Babymam. The fully loaded truck contained 32 pallets of donations.

" Our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine and we are always ready to help them in every way possible. Our humanitarian aid shipment will primarily support employees of the Ukrainian National Post and their families. Postal workers from Ukraine have remained in the country and are striving to carry out their duties, ensuring the continuity of the state's operations, even though this is currently extremely difficult and dangerous, " says Tomasz Zdzikot, CEO of Poczta Polska.

In solidarity with Ukraine, Poczta Polska also joined the government's program to aid our war-affected neighbors. The company made its resources available to the relevant state structures, including several hundred beds in postal training and recreation centers and a staff hotel, transportation of Ukrainian citizens from the border to a location in Poland designated by crisis management teams, special transports for the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves, and a willingness to offer jobs, including many positions where knowledge of the Polish language is not required.

The postal service also organized a friendly employee fundraiser for Ukraine and, as part of its internal aid campaign, is collecting essential supplies for Ukrainian citizens. A special sub-account was also established by the Pocztowy Dar Foundation, where funds are being collected for aid to Ukraine, which was used to purchase items for Ukrainian postal workers. The account has not been closed and continues to be collected for further aid initiatives that will undoubtedly be needed by Ukrainians. Anyone can help by donating funds to our sub-account number: 36 1320 1104 3014 4239 2000 0005.

" The Pocztowy Dar (Postal Gift) Foundation supports the most important social initiatives, engaging Poczta Polska (Polish Post) employees and entities within the Poczta Polska Group. We rose to the occasion during the coronavirus pandemic, supporting hospitals and seriously ill employees and their loved ones. Now we are helping our brothers and sisters in their country, whose country is facing a terrible war that is devastating both the country and its people. By organizing this aid campaign, we want to do something for them that we can influence, to show them empathy and simple human kindness, " says Bogusława Agnieszka Kłoda-Dębska, president of the Pocztowy Dar (Postal Gift) Foundation.

All employees of the Polish Post Office are also demonstrating solidarity with Ukraine. Postal drivers mark their cars with a symbolic sign behind their windows, displaying the slogan #SolidarniZUkrainą and the Ukrainian flag. Postal employees are also demonstrating support for Ukraine on their personal social media profiles.

Poczta Polska is planning another shipment next week.
