Easter Easter eggs on postage stamps

Easter Easter eggs on postage stamps

Copert_lubelskiePoczta Polska introduced "Easter" emission stamps into circulation. Two types of Easter Easter decorations are presented on the stamps: Łowicka's wanderer and Kashubian Kraszanka.

The Łowicka wanderer is called eggs covered with colorful paper, which most often show the Lowicz motifs - characteristic flowers or rooster. However, Kraszanki are formed by cooking eggs in a color decoction, formerly obtained only from natural ingredients. For this purpose, various plants are used, which allowed to obtain different colors, e.g. thanks to the onion shells, the eggs became brown, and thanks to dark mallow flowers - purple.

The tradition of decorating eggs goes back to ancient Mesopotamia. We also find Easter eggs in the notes of poets of the Roman Empire. The first Polish decorations come from the 10th century.

This is another Poczta Polska publishing house regarding Easter. In previous years, the stamp presented, among others Easter eggs, Lemko or Lubelskie.
