Poczta Polska Virtual Sports Triad – King Sigismund II Augustus' birthday and charity event
Poczta Polska, together with its partners from the company's Capital Group, is once again organizing a virtual sports event for employees, their families, and supporters – the Virtual Sports Triad. As in previous years, the goal of this sports initiative is to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the founder of Poczta Polska – King Sigismund II Augustus – and to provide financial support to beneficiaries of the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation and local sports clubs. The Virtual Sports Triad will take place from October 16th to 31st of this year.
Poczta Polska's virtual events, launched last year, are an attempt to find an alternative to the traditional Poczta Polska run during the pandemic. In 2020, the event organized for employees was replaced for the first time with an open run, in which anyone could participate anywhere and at their chosen distance (2 km, 5 km, 10 km, or a triad run). From September 10-18 of last year, over 1,400 people ran with Poczta Polska. This made it one of the largest virtual runs organized in Poland in 2020.
This year, given the popularity of the Virtual Run and the positive feedback from participants, Poczta Polska is organizing a virtual event not only for running enthusiasts. The Virtual Sports Triad is also open to those who enjoy walking and cycling, or all three disciplines (walking, running, cycling). Everyone can find a distance that's right for them – 2 km (run), 5 km (run, walk), 10 km (run, walk, cycling), or 15 km (cycling). In the three disciplines, you can participate in any distance or a premium distance: 5 km walk, 10 km run, or 15 km cycle. The event runs for two weeks, from October 16th to 31st. The Triad partners are companies from the Poczta Polska Capital Group: Envelo, Postdata, Bank Pocztowy, Poczta Polska Dystrybucja, and Pocztylion-Arka PTE.
The Triada is primarily a sports initiative celebrating the Polish Post (the 501st birthday of King Sigismund II Augustus, whose name is associated with the founding of the Polish Post), but also encouraging outdoor physical activity. Although these aren't typical sports events, competitive individuals can compete for trophies in the longest distances in individual disciplines, as well as in the Triada, with a premium distance (5 km walk, 10 km run, and 15 km bike ride). Each Triada participant will also receive a commemorative medal and a set of gifts (including a running scarf, a philatelic publication, and a commemorative race number).
Like last year, 5 PLN from each starter package will be donated to support those supported by the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation. Through the foundation, local sports clubs will receive support that will facilitate their operations and training for both young and older sports enthusiasts. Depending on whether the participant chooses to participate in one or three disciplines, the starter package costs 49 PLN or 59 PLN. For an additional fee, a commemorative, high-quality technical T-shirt will also be available for purchase.
Last year, over 13,974 złoty was raised from the Virtual Run packages and individual donations from participants, which went to two football clubs and one local dance club. This year, additional donations to the Foundation are also available.
