Is your parcel on hold? Be careful, it could be a scam.

Phishing is one of the most popular methods of online fraud, which involves impersonating institutions, companies or individuals in order to obtain confidential information, e.g. personal data, credentials for bank accounts or social networking sites.

Scammers send fake messages (email, text message, social media, shopping platforms) that look like official messages from banks, online stores, or other institutions. These messages contain links to fake websites that look like legitimate sites but are actually controlled by scammers.

One example of a phishing campaign is text messages informing about parcel delivery problems. Fraudsters, pretending to be from Poczta Polska or another courier company, send a message requesting the delivery address or other shipment details.

After clicking on the link in such a message, the recipient is redirected to a website that phishes data.

To protect yourself from phishing, here are some important tips to keep in mind:

  1. Do not click on suspicious links or download suspicious attachments.
  2. Be especially careful of URLs that appear suspicious or inauthentic.
  3. Verify the sender of the message each time.
  4. Do not provide your personal data, such as your ID card number, PESEL number or password.
  5. Do not provide financial data, such as card numbers, CVC/CVV codes and expiration dates.
  6. It is worth installing antivirus software and keeping your operating system up to date.

If you wish to verify a received message, please forward it to the toll-free number 8080 provided by CERT Polska. In response, you will receive information about whether the message is legitimate.

If you receive correspondence from a sender claiming to be from Poczta Polska, please report it to CERT Poczta Polska by sending a message to "incydent@poczta-polska.pl." This will allow us to warn other web users and report the blocking of the fake website to the appropriate authorities.

Remember that phishing is a serious threat to your privacy and security. Be vigilant and cautious online!
