Vote for a Polish stamp in the EUROPA 2022 philatelic competition!
You can vote for the Polish Post stamp entered in the prestigious "EUROPA 2022" philatelic competition only until September 9th. The theme of this year's edition is "Stories and Myths." Maciej Jędrysik, the designer of the Polish Post competition stamp, depicted the Wawel Dragon and Skuba the shoemaker on the aspiring stamp.
EUROPA is a series of stamps issued by European postal administrations since 1956. Poczta Polska decided to depict the legend of King Kraków and the Wawel Dragon on the stamp. The issue debuted on the market on April 21, 2022.
Maciej Jędrysik, the designer of the Polish Post stamp, presented a medieval-style graphic of the Wawel Dragon and the shoemaker Skuba carrying a sulfur-stuffed ram. In the background is the famous hill with the buildings of Wawel Castle and the dragon's den below. The included First Day of Delivery envelope features images of Skuba with a deadly imitation lamb against the backdrop of a defeated dragon, while above it is an image of Prince Krak with a woman.
The competition for the most beautiful EUROPA stamp has been organized by PostEurop since 2002. The EUROPA stamps are intended to express cooperation between postal operators and promote philately. The themes that emerge in subsequent years highlight the common roots, culture, history, and shared goals of the nations of Europe.
It's worth noting that the voting rules have changed since last year. Only the combined votes of PostEurop's member postal operators, the public, and philatelic experts will determine the three winning stamps. The top two groups can vote online until September 9, 2022, and we strongly encourage our philatelists (and others!) to do the same. Experts will evaluate the printed stamps in the second half of September 2022. The final results will be announced in October 2022, during the PostEurop Plenary Assembly.
