Changes in international postal traffic

Changes in international postal traffic

Poczta Polska (Polish Post) hereby informs that, due to changes to the Acts of the Universal Postal Union, registered letter items containing goods will be excluded from international postal traffic as of 1 January 2026. This means that goods cannot be included in registered letter items – i.e., registered and insured letter items.

Therefore, customs declarations will not be required for these types of shipments. However, it is recommended that shipments weighing more than 250g include a customs declaration with the "documents" box checked. This will allow operators in the destination country to properly identify the shipment.

The permitted contents of registered letters and insured letters sent abroad will only be:

    • documents,
    • photos,
    • invitations,
    • other content used to transmit information, recorded on any medium,
in particular on paper (including embossed letters) or on a digital medium, if such medium has no commercial value.

Shipping goods in registered mail or in insured letters will result in such shipments being returned to senders by foreign postal operators.

Goods can still be sent in unregistered letters, postal parcels (including parcels with declared value), as well as in GLOBAL Expres and EMS parcels.
