Postage stamp "30th anniversary of the establishment of the Elbląg Diocese"

GELPoczta Polska (Polish Post) has officially unveiled a circulation stamp commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Elbląg Diocese. The stamp is another issue by Poczta Polska, which aims to commemorate important anniversaries and jubilees, including those related to religious figures and buildings that play a significant role in shaping the religious identity of Poles.

The official presentation of the stamp, attended by Bishop Jacek Jezierski of the Elbląg Diocese, Andrzej Śliwka, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of State Assets, and Wiesław Włodek, Vice President of the Management Board of Poczta Polska, took place at the Elbląg Diocesan Curia. Leonard Krasulski, Member of the Polish Parliament (Law and Justice Parliamentary Club), also attended the ceremony.

The stamp commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Elbląg diocese is another issue of Poczta Polska, the aim of which is to commemorate important anniversaries and jubilees, including those relating to religious figures and objects that are of great importance for building the religious identity of Poles.

" By offering its customers a diverse range of philatelic publications, Poczta Polska also covers topics related to Poland's recent history. This undoubtedly includes the new division of church administration in Poland in 1992. As a result of this reorganization, the Elbląg Diocese was established. Poczta Polska has decided to commemorate this anniversary with a circulation stamp that will help to raise public awareness of the goals of the Catholic Church's pastoral work and its concern for social issues in this region. I believe that this stamp will appeal not only to residents of the region and the city of Elbląg, " says Wiesław Włodek, Vice President of Poczta Polska.

The Diocese of Elbląg is one of three Latin-rite dioceses in the Metropolitanate of Warmia in Poland. It was established on March 25, 1992, pursuant to the Bull "Totus Tuus Poloniae populus" of Pope John Paul II, which established a new administrative division of the Catholic Church in Poland. The territory of the Diocese of Elbląg was formed primarily from parts of the Dioceses of Warmia and Gdańsk.

The Elbląg Bishops' Cathedral, depicted on this stamp, is a 14th-century Gothic church. It was dedicated to St. Nicholas, the bishop and patron saint of sailors and the Hanseatic League. The cathedral's massive, 97-meter-high tower is a striking feature. The coat of arms of the Elbląg Diocese appears in the upper left corner of the stamp, and the issue name, "30th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Elbląg Diocese," appears at the bottom. Along the bottom edge of the stamp are the inscription "POLSKA" and the designation "ECONOMIC S," corresponding to the face value of the postage stamp used for payment of an economy unregistered letter in domestic circulation in the S format and an economy postcard in domestic circulation.
