Stamps on registered letters only until the end of April
Registered letters can be sent using traditional postage stamps only until the end of April 2021. Starting May 1st of this year, registered letters in domestic and international circulation will feature a new "R" sticker in the space previously reserved for postage stamps, displaying the amount of the letter postage fee. This solution was developed to simplify the rules for sending registered correspondence, standardize payment for all registered mail, and expedite customer service at post offices. Traditional postage stamps will remain in circulation as payment only for unregistered, or so-called "regular," letters. Additionally, Poczta Polska, as a national promoter of philately, will continue to issue collectibles for hobbyists.
Starting May 1st of this year, customers will be able to use a new solution for sending registered letters domestically and internationally. Poczta Polska is eliminating postage stamps as a form of payment for this type of correspondence. Traditional postage stamps will be replaced by new "R" label designs. The new solution was developed to streamline the rules for sending registered correspondence, standardize payment methods for all registered mail, and expedite customer service at post offices.
Currently, registered letters constitute as much as one-third of the total mail volume handled by postal workers. It's worth noting that Poczta Polska has long offered the option of sending unstamped correspondence to contract customers, which undoubtedly streamlines the logistical process associated with preparing and sending such correspondence. Registered letters are registered at the dispatch and delivery stages. This means that customers receive confirmation of dispatch and can track their delivery in the tracking system.
Customers have two options for sending registered correspondence:
- priority – with the expected date of service completion on the next business day after the day of posting, provided that the letter is posted by 3:00 p.m.,
- economic – with an expected delivery date of 3 business days after the date of shipment.
Additionally, customers can use the option of acknowledging receipt in paper form or, for courts and other contractual customers, electronically.
Postage stamps have been a part of Poczta Polska's history for over 160 years, which is why the company continues to issue commemorative philatelic issues and will continue to make them available to recipients, including collectors. The online store also offers philatelists from around the world the opportunity to purchase stamps, sheets, and first-day-of-circulation envelopes. Upcoming issues include: "Beneficial Insects," "Silesia 2021 European Athletics Team Championships," "Silesian Uprisings," "Anniversary of the Warsaw Stock Exchange," and more.
