Safe transport of bees with Poczta Polska

Poczta Polska (Polish Post) has announced the launch of a pioneering service in the Polish market – the safe transport of bees. This unique offering was created with the beekeeping community in mind, emphasizing the national operator's commitment to protecting these crucial insects and promoting biodiversity.

The safe shipping of live bees is provided through Pocztex. This service has been designed with attention to every detail to ensure optimal conditions for the bees. Special package labeling and recommended packaging ensuring adequate ventilation and access to water are just some of the standards implemented.

We are the only company in Poland that officially provides bee transport services. Our priority is to do it well and reliably," says Sebastian Mikosz, CEO of Poczta Polska.

Collaboration with experts for the highest standards

The development of the service's procedures was designed in collaboration with experts from the Polish Association of Queen Bee Breeders. Monika Leleń, an expert from the Association, emphasizes the importance of the new service: " There are nearly 100,000 registered beekeepers in Poland. Thanks to our high standards of bee transport, we support the development of apiaries and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity ."

Priority: safety

With bee safety in mind, sorting staff and couriers have undergone special training. Parcels are accepted Monday through Thursday to avoid the risk of being left in warehouses on weekends, and special areas have been designated for bee shipments at postal forwarding and distribution centers.

Polish Post for biodiversity

Bees pollinate approximately 70% of the world's food crops, making them essential to agriculture and horticulture, and therefore to global food security. Sebastian Mikosz adds: " As Poczta Polska, we are proud to contribute to bee protection and better cooperation among beekeepers across the country."

About bees

Honeybees in Poland play an invaluable role in maintaining the health and balance of our natural environment. Their work extends far beyond honey production. Hundreds of plant species from which we produce food, including crops, vegetables, medicinal plants, herbs, shrubs, and fruit trees, depend on bee pollination.

Bees play a significant role in biodiversity and ecosystems. They pollinate both cultivated and wild plants, contributing to the maintenance of healthy and diverse ecosystems.

Bees are extremely hardworking, capable of visiting thousands of flowers in a single day. They form carefully organized communities, in which each bee has specific tasks—from collecting nectar and producing honey to caring for the larvae and the queen.

Unfortunately, honeybees worldwide face numerous threats, including climate change, habitat loss, disease, and the use of pesticides in agriculture. All of these can harm their health and reduce their population size.

By introducing a safe bee transport service, Poczta Polska is demonstrating its commitment to protecting these extremely valuable insects and supporting beekeeping.
