Lądek-Zdrój: the Polish Post office rebuilt after the flood is open to residents
Poczta Polska has opened another renovated post office in the areas affected by the flood in September 2024. Residents and tourists can once again enjoy the full range of services at the renovated office in Lądek-Zdrój, at 2 Staromłyński Square.
Lądek-Zdrój was one of the towns in the Kłodzko Valley that was hit by devastating flooding in September 2024. The natural disaster caused enormous damage, destroying urban infrastructure, homes, bridges, and the historic Market Square. The post office located at 2 Staromłyński Square was also affected.
The flood caused significant damage to the building. The foundations, basement, and ground floor rooms were flooded, requiring drainage and extensive renovation. The rising river also destroyed the fence and green space surrounding the building. To ensure continued service to residents, Poczta Polska (Polish Post) launched a mobile service point in Lądek-Zdrój after the flood wave and then relocated operations to a replacement facility.
Today, after months of intensive work, residents and tourists visiting the Kłodzko Valley can once again use all Polish Post services in the newly renovated facility at 2 Staromłyński Square.
" We are pleased that after the difficult flooding, we can once again fully serve the residents of Lądek-Zdrój in this historic, yet modern facility, " emphasizes Michał Kuściński, Director of the West II Network Region. "Therenovation was a major challenge, but we wanted the facility not only to regain its original function but also to become a showcase for the city and an example of a successful blend of tradition and modernity."
The renovation work was carried out under the strict supervision of the conservator. The windows and doors were replaced, along with all installations, new plaster and flooring were installed, and a modern customer service area was constructed. The renovated facility also features a spacious retail area offering a wide range of goods.
The renovated building retained its historic architectural value while also gaining modern and functional interiors. The renovation was carried out with meticulous attention to detail, making the building one of Lądek-Zdrój's architectural gems.
The post office is open from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
